Bob Arthurs is a jazz trumpet player, vocalist, and recording artist who has been appearing in clubs and at festivals in the New York area and abroad for almost five decades.  New York venues include Birdland, Iridium, Jazz Standard, Cornelia Street Cafe, Cleopatra's Needle, Somethin' Jazz Club, Alice Tully Hall, Town Hall, and the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, Lincoln Center Plaza among others.  Abroad he has performed in Belgium, The Netherlands, Russia, Japan, and Austria (visit the audio, video, and link pages to hear Bob in action ).

In addition to leading his own groups, Bob has played with Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Sal Mosca, Ted Brown, Warren Vache, Larry Coryell, Bucky Pizzarelli, Chuck Wayne, Tal Farlowe, Carmen Leggio, with whom he co-directed a big band, Etta Jones, Jimmy Hill, and Bill Crow among many others.

He is a founding member of the Tristan Quartet, which can be heard on Bob's CD on Zinnia Records, Notes From the Underground, which is available through this website, from CDbaby, amazon.com and from iTunes.

Our latest CD, Jazz for Anya was released in February, 2021 on Lost Records, and is available through this website.   It features Bob, Steve LaMattina, guitar, Alexa Fila, vocals, and Svetlana Gorokhovich, piano.

Bob has been a trumpet and jazz improvisation teacher throughout his career. He was on the faculty of the Music Conservatory of Westchester In White Plains, NY for over three decades.  From 1990 to 2005 he served as the school's Dean of Students and Faculty and Chair of the Conservatory's Jazz Department.  He also served as the trumpet instructor at Rye Country Day School in Rye, NY from 2007 to 2016.

In August, 2017 Bob was invited to perform and to speak at the Music In The Alps Festival in Bad Gastein, Austria, by the Festival's director, Irena Portenko.  He will be returning in August, 2018 to perform and to direct the jazz department of the Festival. The Festival is open to musicians, music students, music lovers, and tourists who wish to have a memorable vacation with music and the Austrian Alps at its core.  For information please visit musicinthealps.com
